Highland, Ark. — Just back from her stint last week on the Ellen DeGeneres Show, Lauren Gray of Hardy, Ark., is getting ready for a benefit concert 7 p.m. Friday, March 9, at the A.L. Hudson Memorial Center here.
Gray is expected to perform songs she sang during her run on American Idol and will cover songs by Adele, Aretha Franklin and Johnny Lang. She will be backed up by the Mike Gray Band. Opening the show for her will be Shane Swift, who will do a tribute song to Lauren, which he wrote.
Doors open at 5:30 p.m., and tickets will be on sale at the door. Tickets also are being sold at the Highland School District Superintendent’s office, on Hwy. 62/412 next to Davis Drug Store. All tickets are general admission and cost $10. The arena seats approximately 2,000 people.
There will be concessions, and Lauren will sign autographs after the show. Posters, T-Shirts, calendars and foam drink holders will be available.
This is the first of several benefit concerts that Lauren has scheduled before she leaves on her 3-month troop tour with American Idol in June.
The Highland concert will benefit the Highland High School music department. For ticket information, call the Highland Superintendent’s office at (870) 856-3275
