guitar & banjoThayer, Mo. — From the crystal flowing waters of the Eleven Point River comes the crystal flowing sounds of the Eleven Point River Band. The banjo wails at a rapid tempo, so fast it’s hard to see the hands of Billy Rogers. The treble guitar of George Kukal, a blues musician from the Memphis area, complements and steers the melody. The keyboard and bass chime in to make some unique music in the Ozarks.
The Eleven Point River band appear at the Boren Center (formerly known as the Oregon County Country Music Theater) on the last Friday night of the month. They can be seen on youtube by using 11point1 as a search term. The concert plays at 7:00 p.m. at 5th and Walnut in Thayer, Mo. They are one of many participants that come to share their music on Friday nights.
Other popular concerts have been a Beatles retrospective, talent shows, and concerts for fundraising for local people facing challenges.
Many more events are planned including art shows, writing seminars and training in multimedia. The theater is evolving into a cultural arts center that will be of interest to both creators and people who enjoy the creations.
