Alton, Mo. — a trial date has been set for Jeffrey Wegener, the 26-year-old Nebraska man charged with stealing a Oregon County Sheriff’s Dept. truck from the Flash Market in Myrtle, dumping it in the Eleven Point River and eluding a several day manhunt in the woods between here and the Ripley County line.
Wegener, waived his preliminary hearing and will go to trial before Circuit Court Judge David Evans on June 2 at 9 a.m.
Wegener is being represented by private attorney Schuyler Laverentz of West Plains.
He is held on $70,000 bond at the Oregon County Jail.
