Levon Helm - Up On Cripple Creek

Jonesboro, Ark. — “Take A Load Off,” a concert honoring the legendary Levon Helm, will be held at The Forum, 115 E. Main St., 7 p.m. Saturday, May 31.
Featured performers will be Danny Dozier and the Lockhouse Orchestra of Batesville and trumpet player Gary Gazaway of Pocahontas and saxophonist Charlie Chalmers of Branson.
Gazaway played with Joe Cocker, George Jones and Stevie Ray Vaughn, and Chalmers performed on Aretha Franklin’s “Respect” and Wilson Pickett’s “Mustang Sally.”
Tickets are $8 and are available at the Forum box office, or can be purchased online at the Jonesboro Foundation of the Arts or over the phone at (870) 935-2726 Tues.-Fri. 9a.m.-5p.m.
The concert is sponsored by the Arkansas State University radio station KASU-FM.
Levon Helm, the drummer and vocalist with The Band, died in 2012 and would have been 74 on May 26. Helm hailed from Marvell in Phillips County, Ark., and is being honored as a rock ’n roll legend.
