West Plains, Mo. — A 46-year-old semi driver from Louisiana was killed in a collision involving two semis early this morning on Hwy. 63 South.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol said David M. Harper, 46, of West Monroe, Louisiana, was driving a ’04 Volvo tractor hauling two trailers northbound on Hwy. 63, 4 miles south of West Plains in Howell County. Police said Harper ran off the roadway and in an attempt to bring the tractor and both trailers back on the roadway crossed the center line. Police said the Volvo was then struck by a ’14 Peterbilt, which Jerry A. Cooper, 51, of Willow Springs was driving southbound on Hwy. 63 at 5:30 a.m. today.
Police said Cooper was moderately injured and was taken by ambulance to Ozarks Medical Center in West Plains.
Harper’s body was taken to Robertson-Drago Funeral Home in West Plains, police said.
