MSHP-logoWest Plains, Mo. — A West Plains man was injured Monday night when his pickup truck got stuck on the railroad tracks at a crossing on County Road 1610 2 miles north of West Plains and was hit by a westbound train.
Missouri State Highway Patrol said Edward J. Stone, 52, suffered serious injury and was taken by South Howell Ambulance to Ozarks Regional Medical Center in West Plains.
Highway Patrol said Stone ran off the road at a railroad grade crossing and became stuck in the tracks. Stone’s ’85 Ford Ranger was hit by a BNSF freight train driven by Seth T.Woolridge, 30, of Springfield, Mo. Highway patrol said the crossing was protected by a cross bucks. The accident occurred at 10 p.m.
