Poinsett County, Ark. — Two persons were killed Monday morning in a head-on collision between two pickup trucks here on U.S. Hwy. 63 north of U.S. Hwy. 69.
Arkansas State Police said Rickey Wheeler, 45, of Trumann, Ark., and Mary Torres, 44, of Brookland, Ark., were killed when Wheeler’s ’06 GMC pickup truck, travelling north on 63 ran off the road, overcorrected, went out of control crossed the median and hit Torres’ ’03 Chevy pickup head-on at 9:23 a.m. Monday. Torres was in the southbound lane.
Torres was pronounced dead at the scene, and Wheeler was pronounced dead at St. Bernard’s Regional Medical Center emergency room in Jonesboro.
Wheeler was held at the St. Bernard Hospital morgue and later was taken to Thompson Funeral Home.
Funeral for Ricky G. Wheeler will be 10 a.m. Thursday in the Thompson Funeral Home chapel. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, 220 Viva Drive, Trumann.

Funeral for Mary H. Torres will be 10 a.m. Friday at Central Baptist Church. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Thursday at Emerson Funeral Home, 1629 E. Nettleton, Jonesboro.
