On a motion from Scroggin’s attorney, Drew Ledbetter of Fayetteville, Judge Putman approved a change of venue for the trial to Marion County in Yellville. No date for the trial has yet been set, according to the Baxter County Prosecuting Attorney’s office today. They said that Prosecuting Attorney Ron Kincade who will be retiring at the end of the year will prosecute the case.
Scroggin is currently free on $50,000 bond. Scroggin was arrested and charged with first degree murder in April of 2013.
She was arrested after she drove to a friend’s house and told them that she thought she had killed someone. Police discovered Turrieta’s body in the trunk of the car she was driving. The victim was also a Mountain Home resident.
Scroggin was originally held on a million dollar bond.
Marion County is in the14th Judicial Circuit along with Boone, Baxter and Newton Counties. Judge John Putman will remain judge on the case.
