Black Rock, Ark. — One person was killed and three injured on U.S. Highway 63 near here in Lawrence County Thursday morning when a Ford Explorer crossed the center line and crashed head-on with a Freightliner and involved three other pickup trucks and a SUV.
Arkansas State Police said 24-year-old Natosha A. Brink of Hardy was killed when her ’03 Chevy pickup was hit by the Freightliner after the head-on collision 9:17 a.m. Thursday eight miles north of Black Rock. The Freightliner also hit a ’14 Ford SUV, whose driver, Carole F. Ritter, 54, of Williford, was not injured.
Police said the driver of the ’02 Ford Explorer, Matthew D. Menne, 24, of Walnut Ridge, was injured in the head-on collision with the Freightliner. Also injured was his passenger Ashley N. Callison, 15, of Wichita, Kansas.
The driver of the ’07 Freightliner, Jamie A. Trotter, 38, of Memphis, was also injured, according to police. A fifth vehicle, a ’14 GMC Sierra was also involved in the wreck, and its driver, Gary Collins, 57, of Williford, was not injured.
According to police the Ford SUV. the Chevy Pickup, the Ford Explorer, and the GMC Sierra were all southbound on Highway 63 when Menne’s Ford Explorer crossed into the northbound lane and hit the Freightliner head-on.
The injured were taken to The Med in Memphis, Tenn.
The victim was taken to Bryan Funeral Home. From there she was taken to Tri-County Funeral Home, 1540 Hwy, 62-412, Highland.
