Newport, Ark. — A Jonesboro man has pled guilty to robbing a murdered Jackson County man and has received a ten year sentence to be served in state prison.
Christopher Lee, 22, was charged with aggravated robbery in the 2013 robbery and murder of 66-year-old Newport, Ark., man, Harold Hagar.
Lee, who was with Garrett Chambliss, 21, also of Jonesboro, when the murder occurred, Tuesday pled guilty to stealing a gun and Hagar’s car which was found burned in Craighead Forest Park.
Chambliss recently pled guilty to the murder and was sentenced to a total of 47 years in the state prison for the murder and corpse abuse.
Hagar was killed during a gun sale deal gone bad, and his body was dumped off a rural Jackson County road.
Chambliss will not be eligible for parole until 25 years of his sentence is served, and Lee will not be eligible for parole until he has served seven years of his sentence.
The case was prosecuted by Third Judicial District prosecutor Henry Boyce.
