Ripley County, Mo. — A 4-year-old Naylor girl was killed Wednesday when she was thrown from the ’01 Ford Expedition she was riding in when the vehicle left the road, went through a water filled ditch and turned over on its side.
Missouri State Highway Patrol said Alyssa K. Mitchell 4, was not wearing a safety device when the accident occurred.
Driver of the Expedition was her father, 40-year-old Daniel S. Mitchell, also of Naylor, who is reported to have suffered moderate injury in the crash, police said.
The accident occurred at 1:40 p.m. on Route H, 10 miles southeast of Doniphan, Mo.
The victim was pronounced dead at the scene at 4:30 p.m. by Ripley County Coroner Michael Jackson. She was transported to Edwards Funeral Home in Doniphan. From there she was taken to Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home, Neelyville.
The driver was taken by ambulance to Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Sunday, March 22, at New Life Pentecostal Church, Brooks Lane and Hwy. 160, Doniphan.
