Styx will light up the world of rock here when they blow into Poplar Bluff. They will bring four decades of performing with them that kicked off in 1976 when Tommy Shaw joined the band and they recorded “Crystal Ball” and went triple platinum four times in a row with “The Grand Illusion,” “Pieces of Eight,” “Cornerstone” and “Paradise Theater” in 1981.
“Every night we go out on that magic carpet ride together,” the band’s original bassist Chuck Panozzo says.
“Music is this amazing force that comes from a higher place. I’m humbled for this band to have the great success that it has,” said one of the co-founders guitarist/vocalist James “J.Y.” Young.
This band moves from one plane to another with such classics as “Blue Collar Man,” “Crystal Ball,” “Renegade” and of course “The Grand Illusion.”
