Scroggin, 26, is accused of murdering Turrieta during a car trip with him to Little Rock, Ark., and concealing his body in the truck of the car she was driving until she drove to a friend’s house on April 2, 2013, when she allegedly said “I think I’ve killed someone.”
Scroggin’s attorney, Drew Ledbetter, made an appearance for her on March 18 for the scheduling order. Scroggin had until March 15 to enter a plea in the case.
The State will be represented by Deputy Prosecutor Kerry Chism, replacing former Prosecuting Attorney Ron Kinkaid, who retired Jan. 1.
A change of venue, from Baxter County, was granted in the case to Marion County because it was determined that the crime occurred in Marion County.
According to investigation into the case by the Baxter County Sheriff, Turrieta was shot three times before being loaded into the trunk of the car.
