Tunica, Miss. — A 26-year-old with two alleged bank robberies under his belt was identified and picked up here Monday night in connection with the Thayer, Mo., bank robbery on April 22.
Tennessee Highway Patrol and the FBI have identified Bobby L. Yates III, a resident of Arlington, Tenn., as the suspect who was wanted on an outstanding felony warrant for bank robbery in Memphis and is also wanted by the FBI for the Thayer bank robbery.
The Tennessee Highway Patrol found Yates Monday night at the Tunica Casino and found his car at a nearby motel. They said Yates fled on foot, stole another vehicle and police gave chase with it ending up with a crash, and Yates was taken into custody. He is being held by the FBI pending further charges.
In addition to bank robberies, Yates is wanted on residential burglary charges in two other states.
The robbery suspect was caught just six days after the crime was committed, and Thayer Police give thanks for assistance to the Tennessee Highway Patrol, the Missouri Highway Patrol, the Oregon County Sheriff’s Department and the FBI
