Albuquerque, New Mexico — An interesting note out of New Mexico this week. Fans of the late, famed rock singer Jim Morrison are reported seeking to have his home here designated as a Historic Site.
According to TV and news reports, historian and fan of the “Doors” frontman Anthony Gomez would like to see the house turned into a Historic Site.
Morrison, who rose to fame in the 1960’s and burned out like a comet at an early age, lived in Albuquerque from the age of 12 to 14 while his father was working at Kirtland Air Force Base.
According to reports the current owner of the home says she isn’t bothered by rock fans who occasionally drop by.
The plain, ranch style home would be a piece of reality for Morrison’s old and new fans to hang on to.
Since Morrison was buried in Paris, France, this would give his American fans something to touch.
Morrison, a rock legend that lives on, died at the age of 27 of an apparent drug overdose on July 3, 1971. He was found in the bathtub of his Paris apartment.
