Poplar Bluff, Mo. — A 37-year-old Poplar Bluff woman was killed Tuesday when the vehicle she was riding in pulled out in front of a semi-truck on U.S. Highway 67 at Montauk Drive in Jefferson County.
Missouri State Highway Patrol said Stacy L. Swisher died after the ’05 Hyundai Santa Fe driven by 16-year-old Sebastain K. Ramirez tried to cross from Montauk Drive into the northbound lanes of Highway 67 and was struck on the driver side of the car by a ’12 Freightliner driven by John W. Reichel, 66, of California, Mo., at 9:08 p.m. Tuesday.
Ramirez and Robert C. Sprague, 44, both of Poplar Bluff, were taken by ambulance to Mercy Hospital in Jefferson City, Mo. Both were reported by police to be in serious condition. The driver of the semi was not reported injured.
The victim also was taken to Mercy, where she was pronounced dead by Dr. S. Keddy at 9:30 p.m..
