The prosecution this morning put on the stand Jersey’s mother DesaRae Bridgeman Crouch, who recounted how Holly carried the sleeping Jersey to her bed at her nearby home and the child came up missing the next morning.
After the lunch break, the prosecution called Kris Moffit, lead detective with the Bentonville Police force, and presented the prosecution case against Holly playing his interview tapes for the jury.
This is a death penalty case, and the defense has not put on a strong cross on the witnesses so far. Tomorrow the prosecution is expected to call their crime lab witnesses and could wrap, allowing the defense to take over.
After the dead child was found in an abandoned house near her house, police confiscated articles of Holly’s clothing worn that night. Holly waited several days before going to the police station to be interviewed. Holly was taken into custody after the interviews were held.
