Black Oak, Ark. — Two Monette, Ark., men were killed and a Jonesboro man was injured in a head-on collision between a ’06 GMC and a tractor trailer here Thursday on U.S. Highway 18.
Arkansas State Police said passenger Tanner A.R. Platz, 19, and driver Zachary D. Wells, 20, were both killed when a tractor trailer driven by Chad T. Marshall, 44, of Jonesboro headed east crossed into the eastbound lane and hit the GMC head-on. Police said the accident occurred at 2:49 a.m. near Highway 135 in Craighead County. Conditions were rainy and wet, police said.
The two victims were pronounced at the scene by Craighead County Deputy Coroner Milton Harbison.
The injured tractor trailer driver was taken to the Northeast Arkansas Baptist Hospital in Jonesboro.
Both victims were taken to Emerson Funeral Home in Jonesboro.
