Mountain Home, Ark. — A 35-year-old Mountain Home woman, the victim of an apparent drowning Monday in Lake Norfork, will be sent to the State Medical Examiner’s Office to determine cause of death, according to the Baxter County Sheriff’s Department.
Cassandra Lynn Gordon was found approximately 15 feet from shore in five feet of water and did not respond to CPR when administered by a private party, police said.
According to witnesses Cassandra was seen standing near her raft 10 to 15 minutes before she was discovered underwater. The incident occurred at the Cranfield Park area. The victim had been swimming with friends.
She was pronounced dead at the scene by the Baxter County Coroner. Water temperature in the lake was 89 degrees.
Police and emergency personnel were called to the scene.
