Red Wolves logoJonesboro, Ark. — After losing to the USC Trojans (now ranked sixth) 55-6 in Los Angeles and the University of Missouri Tigers (now ranked 22nd) 27-20 in Jonesboro, the Arkansas State University Red Wolves Saturday night overwhelmed the Missouri State University Bears 70-7 Saturday night at the remodeled Centennial Stadium in Jonesboro.
The Red Wolves scored 21 points in the first quarter, 21 in the second quarter, 21 in the third quarter and 7 points in the fourth quarter.
MSU BearThe Bears scored only with three minutes left in the game. Then ASU scored again with 1:16 left in the game to make the final score 70-7.
After passing 16-19 for 192 yards in the first half, freshman quarterback James Tabary from New Orleans passed 21-24 for 255 yards for the game.
ASU gained 624 total yards on 72 plays. MSU was held to 341 yards.
The Red Wolves next play the Rockets Sept. 26 in Toledo. The Rockets Saturday defeated the Iowa State Cyclones 30-23 in double overtime. The Rockets defeated the Arkansas Razorbacks 16-12 Sept. 12 in Little Rock. ASU plays Idaho Oct. 3 for homecoming.
The Bears next play Indiana State Oct. 3 in Springfield, then play Southern Illinois University Oct. 10 in Carbondale. They play Illinois State University Oct. 17 for homecoming.
Elsewhere, the Arkansas Razorbacks lost 35-24 to Texas Tech at Fayetteville. The Razorbacks next play Texas A&M Sept. 26 at Fayetteville.
The Mizzou Tigers Saturday defeated the Connecticut Huskies 9-6 in Columbia. They next play the Kentucky Wildcats Sept. 26 in Lexington.
