Cabool, Mo. — The Thayer Bobcats shut out the Cabool Bulldogs here Friday night with a score of 43-0 as Thayer defense kept them in punt out city and the only time they got near the goal line they forced a fumble.
The Thayer Bobcats’ quarterback, Ayden Henry, launched a 65-yard bomb to Matt Griffith to put him on the 5 yard line in their first possession of the game, and when Braydon Pender made the touchdown and had it wiped out due to holding penalty the best they could come away with was a 22-yard Landon Tyler field goal to make the first quarter score 3-0.
The Bulldogs then fumbled it away to the Bobcats and they lost on downs. And as the second quarter got under way the Bulldogs went back to punt out city.
The Bobcats kicked off the second quarter on a fourth down and 9 with a 32-yard pass to Bo Kafka, who picked it up at the 1 yard line; Matt Griffith scored to make the tally 10-0. The Bulldogs went back to punt out city, and Matt Griffith took the ball over with a 15-yard touchdown run to make it 17-0.
Bulldogs were faced with setting up residence in punt out city. Bobcats had sacked their quarterback, Tanner Barnes, at the 20 yard line; the Bobcats took over on a fake punt at the Cabool 19 yard line, and William Tillman scored on a 19-yard pass reception to make it 23-0; the PAT kick was blocked.
As the play clock was running out on the first half the Bulldogs were floundering, and the Bobcats took the ball on a 40 yard trip to Bo Kafka; Tucker Hargrove went in from the 10 yard line to make the halftime score 30-0.
The second half was more of the same. The Bulldogs looked like they might have gotten it together, but not for long. Turner Barnes drove them to the Bobcat’s 12 yard line, and they fumbled the ball. The Bobcats had already scored on their first possession of the Third Quarter on a 62-yard touchdown reception by Brandon Pender to make the score 36-0. The Landon Tyler PAT missed .
The Fourth Quarter was yet more of the same. The Bulldogs were stymied by the Bobcat defense, and Brandon Pender scored again from the Bulldog 29 yard line to make the final score 43-0.; this time Tyler’s PAT was good.
As the minutes and seconds ran off the clock the Bulldog second string quarterback Logan Miller Jr. got Haden Liska to the Bobcat 15 yard line and ran out of time.
