Mary Kay Voyles

Mary Kay Voyles

Mary Kay Voyles, 61 of Mountain View, Mo., went to be with the Lord Saturday Oct. 24, 2015. She was born May 28, 1954 to Edsel F. and Willa Keith Voyles in Conway, Ark.
She was an English teacher who loved making a difference in her students’ lives, sharing this passion for over 30 years in Mountain View. She enjoyed writing, reading, sponsored the drama club, and wrote plays.
Of her, Rachel Reynolds Luster, currently of Couch, Mo., and formerly of Mountain View, said, “If you’re lucky, you’ve got that one teacher in school that supports you no matter what and leaves a lifelong impact for good. Mary Kay Voyles was that teacher for me. She drew me in to a love of English and drama, and put up with, neigh encouraged, the shenanigans of me and my best bud, Willow. I remember one theater performance that we starred in and Ms. Voyles directed where we ad-libbed the entire play instead of using the written text that we were supposed to have memorized, and she just let us roll with it. She encouraged me to graduate early and go to a conservatory in New York City and pursue theatre, and from a little bitty Arkansas town and with no training but what she had provided me, I got in. . . . I have many fond memories of her to hold on to.”
She was devoted to sharing her faith as a member of the Church of the Living God in Mountain View.
Mary Kay is survived by her mother Willa Voyles of Conway, Sister; Kelly (Rick) Dearing of Plainview, Two Brothers; Bill Voyles and Mark Voyles both of Conway, Nephews; Billy (Brenna) Voyles and Charles Dearing, Niece; Shana Peterson, great nephews; D.J. and Zachary Voyles and Grant Peterson, Great Niece; Alaina Kate Peterson.
She is preceded in death by her father, sister in law; Sheila Voyles, and her dear friend Laurie Hebner.
A Memorial Service will be held Friday, Oct. 30, at 10:00 a.m. at Roller-McNutt Funeral Home, 801 8th Ave., Conway.
