Thayer, Mo. — A major benefit auction, “The Body of Christ Benefit Auction,” will be held Saturday, Dec. 19, to assist the families whose house was destroyed by fire Dec. 4 and who lost three children.
The auction will take place starting at 5 p.m. Saturday at the Christian Activity Center, 420 Chestnut St. in Thayer. Auctioneer will be Kenny Cotham, assisted by Adam Crase. Various organizations will be serving chili, rolls and baked goods. Thayer Town & Country will provide beverages.

Proceeds of the auction will be given to the pastor of Welcome Hill Church, where the mothers attended. From there he will take care of remaining funeral costs, etc.

Killed in the fire were Ruby Sue Bowers, 2, Dallas Michael Bowers, 3, and Remedy Lynn Moore, 8.
Ruby Sue and Dallas Michael are the children of Michael Bowers and Selinna Seelye. Other survivors include three sisters, Wanda, Zyra and Joselyn; maternal grandparents, Candy Seelye and John Walling; paternal grandfather, Michael Bowers; paternal grandmother, Karen Bowers; maternal great-grandmother, Wanda Seelye; and paternal great-grandmother Ruby Bowers.
Remedy Lynn is the daughter of Joseph Lynn Moore and Euraina Walling. Other survivors are one sister, Harmoney, one brother, Jonathan, maternal grandparents , Candy Seelye and John Walling; and maternal great-grandmother, Wanda Seelye.
Funeral was Monday afternoon, Dec. 14, at Clary Funeral Home in Thayer with burial at Walker Cemetery in Thayer.
The fire at 3164 County Road 358 in Oregon County, just outside Thayer, destroyed everything in the house.

The Dec. 4 fire has been investigated by Missouri State Fire Marshal’s Office, Thayer Police Department, the Oregon County Coroner, the Oregon County Sheriff’s Office, and Shelter Insurance. The fire marshal’s office currently is heading the investigation into the cause of the fire. A spokesman for the fire marshal’s office said no finding has yet been issued. It will be about another three weeks until a report is issued, he said.
