Craighead County, Ark. — A 21-year-old Tennessee woman was killed and a 40-year-old Jonesboro man injured in a three-car collision on U.S. Highway 63 North at Paul’s Switch Road here early Thursday morning, March 31.
Arkansas State Police said Jessica A. Hall, 21, of Cordova, Tenn., was driving her ’13 GMC pickup truck southbound on U.S. 63 North when she crossed the center line into the turning lane and ran into northbound traffic.
Police said she hit the driver’s side of a ’10 Nissan Altima before crashing head-on with a ’13 GMC pickup driven by James N. Thomas, 40, of Jonesboro, Ark., who was injured in the crash.
The victim was pronounced dead at the scene by Craighead County Deputy Coroner Jeremy Throesch. Driver of the Nissan, who police did not name, was not injured, but James N. Thomas was taken to St. Bernard’s Medical Center in Jonesboro.
The victim was taken to Emerson Funeral Home in Jonesboro, Ark.
Police said the accident occurred at 6:24 a.m., and the pavement was wet at the time of the crash.
