Just as they were getting ready to walk two by two down the aisle, a major storm knocked the electricity out in the high school gym for the rest of the night. Their graduation was illuminated by cell phones, and they had a battery driven microphone. A graduation photographer, from Stapleton Shots, also provided some illumination.
Senior Class Sponsor Pam Savage told the Hill ’n Holler Review this class wanted a different graduation, and they got their wish. She said they were happy with the ceremony, which was “definitely not formal,” and lights were provided at the podium by a police officer and the photographer.
Graduates walked down to the ceremony in a group and received their awards, scholarships and gave speeches.
When it came time for the 17 girls and 16 boys to toss their caps in the air, members of the audience all turned on their cell phones and the traditional ceremony took place.
