Modesto, Calif. — Bernie Sanders Thursday agreed with his opponent Hillary Clinton’s criticisms of Donald Trump’s foreign policy positions and then leveled both guns at Clinton’s foreign policy record.
Sanders agreed that Trump’s ideas on foreign policy are “incredibly reckless and irresponsible.” He said, “We cannot forget that Clinton voted for the war in Iraq, the worst foreign policy blunder in modern American history, and that she has been a proponent of regime change as in Libya without thinking through the consequences.”
“We need a foreign policy based on building coalitions, and making certain that the brave men and women in our military do not get bogged down in perpetual warfare in the Middle East. That’s what I will fight for as President.”
Sanders Thursday also took Trump to task for his failure to believe that climate change is real. Trump charges that climate change is a “hoax” perpetuated by the Chinese. Sanders said this “is so ludicrous that it really would be funny if the future of the planet were not at stake.” Trump also denies that California is in the middle of a five-year drought.
Sanders, who has introduced legislation to limit carbon emissions and curtail the use of fossil fuels with a carbon tax, urged Clinton to join him in support of the legislation stating “burying our heads in the sand and taking contributions from the fossil fuel industry is not going to solve this problem.”
Sanders also included a national ban on fracking to help solve greenhouse emissions.

Sanders made these remarks at a news conference Thursday before a rally attended by 2,500 supporters at the Modesto Centre Plaza.
