“This speaker was scheduled to be with us last month, but could not attend due to an emergency, so we are happy to have here this month,” Brown said.
Otting describes her novels as “post apocalyptic fiction from a woman’s perspective.” They usually feature a female protagonist facing a crisis due to economic collapse, electromagnetic pulse, or another end-of-the-world-as-we-know-it scenario, making her work popular with preppers and homesteaders.
Otting lives a homesteader’s lifestyle in the Ozarks and draws inspiration from her own life and that of her neighbors, coupled with research and a vivid imagination.
The Oregon County Writers Group meets the last Monday of each month. All are welcome to the meeting, according to Brown.
It is a pot luck, so all are encouraged to bring a dish.
